Supporting families
Developing ways to connect families with resources, everyday assistance, and respectful support during difficult times.
Christians With Helping Hands is a Lakota-led Christian nonprofit rooted in the Pine Ridge Reservation. We are building a way to serve families and neighbors with compassion, respect for Lakota community life, and love expressed through action.
Our mission is to put Christian compassion into action in the Pine Ridge Reservation community by developing practical support, encouragement, and stronger connections among families, elders, young people, and neighbors.
Our Lakota roots matter. We aim to listen first, honor local knowledge and family ties, and work alongside community members. Assistance will be guided by dignity and need—not by anyone’s religious beliefs.
These are areas we hope to develop with guidance from Pine Ridge families, community members, and trusted local partners.
Developing ways to connect families with resources, everyday assistance, and respectful support during difficult times.
Supporting the bonds between generations and recognizing the wisdom of elders, the promise of youth, and the strength of extended families.
Exploring respectful partnerships with Pine Ridge community members, churches, and service organizations to respond to locally identified needs.
These are planned areas of focus, not a claim that all programs are currently operating.
Our Christian faith and Lakota community roots shape the way we hope to treat people and care for this place.
We are inspired by Christian teachings to serve with humility, kindness, and purpose.
We respect Lakota identity and community knowledge, and welcome people of all backgrounds and beliefs without judgment or pressure.
We value Lakota family and community ties, local wisdom, and working with people rather than speaking for them.
We aim for clear communication, honest reporting, and careful stewardship of future resources.
Christians With Helping Hands is a Native-run, Lakota-led Christian nonprofit on the Pine Ridge Reservation in South Dakota. Our vision is to create more opportunities for neighbors and families to find encouragement, practical assistance, and connection close to home.
As our organization develops, we want Pine Ridge community voices—not outside assumptions—to guide our work.
As we develop outreach on Pine Ridge, we welcome conversations with neighbors, volunteers, churches, and locally trusted organizations.
Families and community members help identify what support would be most useful and how it should be offered.
We hope to connect with congregations, community groups, and local leaders in ways that respect Lakota self-determination.
Future volunteer opportunities will prioritize listening, practical service, and accountability to the people being served.
